Peer Mentor Team
A Judgement-Free Zone
Our team of student Peer Mentors are able to offer a judgement-free environment, full confidentiality, and a wide array of resources to help you build your personal finance knowledge. Each mentor is trained and certified to offer peer support on a range of topics, from budgeting to investing and beyond.
Appointments typically last an hour and take place on campus or over Zoom/Teams. You are in the driver's seat about what topics to cover and what your goals are. Our mentors will offer resources tailored to your needs and goals, and all for no cost!
You can learn more about our team below.
Steve Lee, Lead Peer Mentor
Hello! My name is Steve, a junior studying Financial Economics. I am passionate about the markets and so spend lots of time learning about a variety of finance topics. When I have free time, I like to read fantasy/sci fi books, do boxing, or be involved in community events! I'm excited to help students with any knowledge level to begin learning about personal finance topics and explain them in easy-to-understand language.
My main specialties include investing, retirement accounts, and saving.
Cy Bouker
Hi, my name is Cy, pronounced like the “Cy” in Psych, which happens to be one of my all time favorite TV shows! I'm in my third year at Western studying International Business and French, with an undeclared minor in Hacky Sack Studies. I've long been interested in the world of money; whether it's buying something at the store or completing a million dollar deal, money is everywhere, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the team making dollars and cents make sense. If you’d like to talk about money, habit building, investing, career, or otherwise, Cy’s your guy!
Jai Thomas
My name is Jai and I'm a junior at Western majoring in Elementary education. I'm passionate about working with children and bringing valuable information to others. My hobbies include reading, writing, singing and various arts and crafts. I love anything that allows my creativity to shine!
My areas of confidence are applying for and understanding financial aid and scholarships, working towards major milestones like car and/or home ownership, and credit and debt managing techniques.
Sarina Freudmann
Hi! My name is Sarina, and I’m a senior majoring in Finance. I’m passionate about helping students feel more confident discussing their finances and empowered to achieve their financial goals. In my free time, I enjoy listening to audiobooks, music, and going rock climbing.
My main areas of confidence include building credit, saving, and getting started with investing.
