Peer Mentoring

Welcome to Western's Financial Literacy Peer Mentorship program!

Our peer mentors are trained to guide and support your financial journey. They are here to help you navigate the world of personal finance, via in-person one-on-one appointments and through workshops. Throughout the year, they'll cover earning, budgeting and spending, saving, borrowing, and investing.

Hello! My name is Jeremy, and I’m a senior studying finance with a focus on helping students build strong systems for success. When I’m not exploring the outdoors or hitting the trails on my mountain bike, you can find me baking—banana bread is my specialty! I’m excited to change the way you think about money and help you reach your financial goals, no matter where you're starting. Let’s work together to make money management a part of your everyday success!

My specialties are financial planning, retirement accounts, and goal setting.

Hello! My name is Steve, a junior studying Financial Economics. I am passionate about the markets and so spend lots of time learning about a variety of finance topics. When I have free time, I like to read fantasy/sci fi books, do boxing, or be involved in community events! I'm excited to help students with any knowledge level to begin learning about personal finance topics and explain them in easy-to-understand language.

My main specialties include investing, retirement accounts, and saving.

Hello! My name's Effie (she/her) and I am a senior here at Western pursuing a degree in Financial Economics. My hobbies include playing physical media (vinyl, CDs, DVDs, you name it!), watching spooky movies, and cooking/baking. When I'm not tinkering with my Excel spreadsheets I'm listening to my favorite band, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Usually, I'm doing both at the same time! I love my job as a peer mentor and look forward to meeting with you to discuss any of your financial literacy needs. 

My specialties are budgeting, credit, and intro to investing!

Hello! I’m Yousef, a senior majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship. I’m passionate about playing chess, photography, and dedicating myself to meaningful work. As a student leader actively engaged in various clubs campus, I’m excited to help other students in achieving their financial goals and building a strong foundation for their futures. 

My specialties are wealth building, tax-efficient investing, and cash flows optimization.

Hello! I’m Ashton Toctocan (he/him) and I’m passionate about sports, fishing, and staying engaged both on campus and in my community. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of helping lead and expand the Mixed Student Organization and the Financial Management Association. These experiences provided invaluable lessons that I’m excited to bring into my future career. My family instilled in me a strong financial mindset and a love for all things finance early on, and I can’t wait to share this passion with others!
